It is easier to imagine that superheroes are always eager to jump into action and save the day. I have never imagined a hero who is reluctant to play the role of becoming the savior they are destined to be, so you would imagine my shock reading this fantastic book, Rise of the Savior: Acolyte of Truth by Antoine Bonner.

In the book Rise of the Savior: Acolyte of Truth, Amanda, a teenage girl, discovers she suddenly has supernatural powers when involved in an accident. Amanda soon finds out that she is the Acolyte of Truth and that the powers to save the world are in her hands. Amanda is initially reluctant to carry on this new role of a hero.

The story unravels, and the human race is under threat. An enemy threatens to wipe off humans from the face of the earth, and only the Acolytes can stop this enemy. However, Amanda does not desire to accept this new role until an event that threatens her sister's life occurs. What will be the fate of the world? Will Amanda rise to save the day? Antoine Bonner reveals all of this in this fascinating book.

I found a lot of positive aspects to this book. The characters were well developed and dynamic; for instance, Amanda was an ordinary teenage girl until the accident happened. Antoine also skillfully introduced the characters; they were symbolic and played a role in fulfilling the story. The author's diction was not complicated as it was easy to flow with the book. The author's use of suspense kept me wanting to know what the characters would do next; for instance, Amanda's initial refusal to take up her role as the Acolyte of Truth.

Nevertheless, I found negative aspects to this book as well. This is a fast-paced thriller, and I kept trying to keep up with the story. Some events seemed rushed, and it felt as though the author was suddenly in a hurry to conclude the book; this was seen in Amanda's sudden victory. This book also started relatively slowly in the first chapter. Finally, I spotted a lot of errors in this book; it was not professionally edited.

I rate this book Rise of the Savior: The Acolyte of Truth 2 out of 4 stars. I deducted a star from my rating because I found numerous errors in this book. I removed another star because the negative aspects I mentioned affected my overall satisfaction while reading this book. I recommend this book to young adults and those who enjoy thrillers.

Your summary of the book piqued my curiosity. I wonder how Amanda used her powers. I was disappointed that you had to lower your rating of the book. It still sounds like an amazing story. Thanks for the amazing review!

I've recently read the book, and I completely agree with you on the fact that it was too fast-paced. Even your point about the character's roles is valid. Thanks for a great review!

I'm wondering why Amanda refused such an opportunity to become a world hero in the first place. I am definitely going to check this one out.

Most people feel reluctant about happenings until it hits us directly, just like Amanda who was reluctant to use her super powers, but when it concerns her sister??? Great job!

Antoine is a skillful storyteller, just surprised that there were many errors in the book. It could be worked on.
