The book starts with a prologue and by the time reader finishes reading it, he would know the book has elements of suicide and terrorism. The book has chapters named then and today that keeps going between past and present. The reader is well aware of the antagonist from the first few chapters itself and so the plot is all about how an innocent kid life has changed with an incident that occurred in a lorry park. The author, Fin C. Gray does a wonderful job in bringing friendship, disease, terrorism and religion into a string by using familiar settings that a reader could connect to.

As a reader, I have liked how the plot opens up from Daniel's perspective. One day, a curious kid fascinated with lorries, sneaks into a lorry park that he is not allowed to. I also like the friendship and the affection he has for Waqar. The trauma Daniel faced is in the back of his mind until half of the book. A reader can relate to the emotions he felt as he knows more about his father. The book is exceptionally well edited and well narrated. The book was excellent and the only negative I can point is in differentiating the chapters as then and present. I would have preferred if the author would have used a complete date or even the year to differentiate the chapters.

Unknowingly, I felt the book questions the reader about the conflicts associated with any religion and even the humans’ perception towards homosexuality. Even though a significant amount of the book deals with violence, the book does have sensitive side to it. The family relations that are on the brink of falling apart is well portrayed in reader's mind. The estranged father and son have a lot to say each other and they never seem to come around and clear the air between them. This adds a lot of tension. Around the same time Daniel forges a friendship with Waqar who connects with him to share Daniel’s apartment.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.

Duplicity is a great choice for those who would enjoy genres of crime, thriller, violence, a bit of drama and do not mind the profanity and the sexual abuse. As the book has profanity, this book is suitable for mature audience. The book has definitely kept me hooked for days.
