Review of Hattie Vavaseur

[Following is a volunteer review of "Hattie Vavaseur" by M. Rebecca Wildsmith.]
The book, Hattie Vavaseur is a fictional novel that falls under the suspense and horror genre. This is written by M. Rebecca Wildsmith. This story takes place in the 1920s and it is about the journey of an old lady named, Hattie Vavaseur.
The story begins with Hattie Vavaseur getting into a taxi after attending a funeral where she did not recognize anybody. Hattie being an old lady keeps forgetting things. As she entered the taxi, she forgot where she had to go and also, did not recognize the driver immediately. Being hesitant to admit her flawed memory, Hattie greeted the driver with a smile and he drove her to an intriguing mansion in Cornwall, England. After she arrived there, a series of mysterious and weird things come to light. So, to know more about this and also Hattie’s journey, you will have to read this book.
Hattie Vavaseur is about 185 pages long divided into 42 chapters. The author has depicted Hattie’s character beautifully. The story, the background, the setting, everything takes you back to those classic old times where things were both difficult and effortless at the same time. The author’s writing is crisp and eloquent which makes it easily understandable and forces the reader to finish reading the book in one go.
Hattie is one smart, witty, and weird old woman. I enjoyed reading all her dialogues in this book. Her irritation and sense of humor added more charm to this story. One of my favorite parts of this is Hattie’s letters. It was fun to read the letters written in that era and the emotions that they involved. The biggest appeal for me was the suspense and twists that the author has included. They truly made this book a page-turner. Though this falls under the horror genre, it also has elements of humor in it which makes it quite interesting and fun to read. I appreciate how intricately the author has uncovered the mystery without dragging it unnecessarily.
Overall, I had a great time reading this book. There is nothing that I disliked about this. It seems professionally edited, as I did not find any error while reading. With that being said, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I have no reason to rate this any lower.
This book does contain mild/borderline profanity. I highly recommend Hattie Vavaseur to anyone who enjoys reading suspense, thriller, and horror novels. This is not suitable for people who are not comfortable reading about supernatural stuff. All in all, this book is a complete entertainment package.
