[Following is a volunteer review of "Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer's Guide" by William H. Coles.]
Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer's Guide by William H. Coles is a handbook for writers of fiction stories. A tool in the hands of anyone who wants to know more about this genre. The book is divided into two parts, giving the reader clarity about many types of techniques, techniques, rules, and ideas. It also clearly explains and discusses different options as well as ways to achieve a good story. The book provides detailed guidelines for starting and choosing writing methods to can create interesting yet accurate stories. Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer’s Guide explains many things about writing a good fiction story, and at the same time, it is not a very long book.
It looks at the basics, not occupying the reader with unnecessary information but only with what he needs to make a good story. Tidiness and compactness make it the perfect guide for any fiction writer. I need to note that this is not a book of several volumes, which aims to exhaust you from boredom, but on the contrary, the selection and the necessary is always on the face and easily at hand. In my opinion, as a reader, this is what William H. Coles wanted to achieve, and he succeeded. Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer’s Guide is a handbook, an instrument to help you succeed in the complex endeavor of being a fiction writer.
Nevertheless, I liked that William H. Coles used examples to confirm his words by turning them into facts. Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer's Guide surprised me, to be honest because I learned things I didn't fully understand before. In my opinion, Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer's Guide is a great helper, and I think it provides necessary information that can be useful. William H. Coles receives my congratulations and admiration for the great handbook he has built.
Negatively, there is not much to say in this context. The only thing is that there are easily noticeable expressions, one of such is "naïveté," but do not harm the information and the integrity of the book in any way.
In overview, I would say that the book is suitable for beginners and even a few levels up. I am not an expert in this area and cannot tell whether it includes absolutely every significant part that everyone needs in the type of fiction writing or not. But as a writer and reader, it is my opinion that it includes the necessary components, at least the basic ones, to build a good story. In that order, I can rate this book 4 out of 4. And that is because I saw in Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer's Guide a pretty good tool in writing fiction stories. I would recommend Creating Literary Stories: A Fiction Writer's Guide to anyone who wants to learn how to write fiction stories, and I hope it helps along the way to your perfect story.
