[Following is a volunteer review of "The United States of Opioids" by Harry Nelson.]
"Opioids" are perceived as the easiest, fastest and affordable source of relief in regulating pain and emotions considered unpleasant, with an ecstatic and blissful feeling through dulled brain capabilities that often leads the user to death, this is rapidly becoming a norm, and considered a well known menace ravaging the Americans of all ages, though initially approved by the medical community, enriching it's varying sources who participate either legally or illegally in making these substances available . It's victims though not limited to any group, grapple to escape the reoccurring cycle of being "high and sober" while their loved ones desperately hope that they (the rehabilitating addicts) elude the imminent danger of death. In light of these occurrences, efforts are being made to aggressively tackle opioids and their effects, through thorough research, awareness programs, and participatory efforts of the actors within and outside the health sector.
The United States of Opioids by Harry Nelson is a non-fiction detailing the researched causes, effects, probable solutions as well as positive developments that can aid in totally eradicating the endless cycle of addiction which has claimed the lives of millions of individuals especially in America. The book covers extensively necessary information needed to give a professional insight with regards the medical and non-medical relationship of Opioids with brief sightings from inception to date, as well as its effects on the American populace and the world at large. The likes of chemical compounds such as Cannabis and it's derivatives, and other ground breaking drug related research gives an assured sense of hope.
The United States of Opioids is very enlightening, it seemed to take me back to chemistry classes with compounds, experiments and their likely effects on the physiological, psychological, social and emotional activities of individuals. The books well detailed nature, as well as the extra effort made by the writer to include experiences of victims gives a realistic view on the effects of prescriptions on individuals and the society at large, which I truly appreciate.
The book is professionally edited, data based and very engaging . I recommend this write up to all genres of people, and the medical community, as the information contained within is of very high value and relevance to the present and the future. My rating of this book is a 4 out of 4, for being very informative, inspiring, inclusive and encouraging.
