Review of That Guy What Kill Topsy
That Guy What Killed Topsy by Peter Wood Cotterill, along with one novella story, 'I Love Rhinos,' and other stories such as 'A Day Best Not Remembered,' 'Am I Dead,' 'Chancet be a Fine Thing,' and 'My Life and Times-Pussy Galore,' all explore different themes in human psychology, empathic pain, and distress.' Each of these stories has a separate plot thread that explores various facets of human emotions and feelings toward others.
The title of the book, 'That Guy What Killed Topsy,' tells the tragic story of Lester, who is sentenced to seven years in prison for the cause of Topsy's death in a car accident. 'A Day Best Not Remembered' is also a tragic story about Megs, a single mother struggling to survive with her four-year-old daughter and her ill father. 'Am I Dead' depicts a psychological theme. It's about a character who isn't sure if he's living or dead. He grows enraged at the prospect of never seeing his beloved again.
'Chancet be a Fine Thing' is also a psychological story with comedic elements. It tells the story of Aunt Bett, who is terrified of appearing in public and participating in a quiz show. 'My Life and Times- Pussy Galore' is an exception to the book's other pieces, which all deal with mental discomfort. It's an absurdly short narrative about a cat who doesn't appreciate being called a particular name by its owner.
The book appeals to me because it contains a variety of short stories. I enjoy short stories because I am not the patient type when it comes to knowing how things will end. Another thing I love about the book is that it points out events that can happen in the real world. There is no science fiction, mysticism, or supernatural activity, but just realistic fiction.
Some of the stories in the book have a satisfying conclusion, while others don't. The first story in the collection, 'That Guy What Killed Topsy,' for example, has an unfinished resolution. The story concludes when Marina pours acid on Lester's face, but it doesn't go on to tell what happened afterward.
The book is well-edited and I discovered no errors in it. It's a lot of fun to read because it's written in simple language and the plot moves smoothly. As a result, I'd give this book 3 out of 4 stars. I only deducted one rating because the book's first story is left incomplete.
This book is recommended for those who enjoy fictitious novels and wish to learn more about human psychology and emotions.
