[Following is a volunteer review of "Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat" by R.F. Kristi.]
Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi is the seventh book in The Inca Cat Detective Series. It is also the seventh standalone book in The Diary of a Snoopy Cat Series. The witty Siberian kitty Inca is on vacation with her family. They have decided to visit their beautiful Island in Sri Lanka. The island is located between India and Southeast Asia. Vacation is a time for relaxation, and they are having fun doing just that when a new mission pops up for Inca & Company to solve.
An antique sword has been stolen from the Colombo museum, and Solo has been hired to catch the thieves. Of course, to Inca, this means Inca & Company to the rescue. Terrance, Solo's dog, supplies the team with useful intel, which he gets from Solo. Rani, the sea turtle, and Meena, the baby elephant, are added to the mystery-solving team. Will Inca & Company get the sword back before it's too late?
This is the second book in this series that I have read, and I wasn't disappointed. R.F. Kristi's writing in this book was engaging, and beautiful illustrations were used. The font was attractive, and the adequate spacing between paragraphs will encourage readers to keep reading. It is a lighthearted children’s book that is both entertaining and educational. Children will learn a bit about Sri Lanka from this book. I know I did. For example, I learned that Sri Lanka has at least eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites and over two thousand years of culture.
This book also provides an opportunity for children to learn about animals like sea turtles and elephants. They will learn what sea turtles like eating and where they like living. The plot is simple enough for children to understand and follow. There is also an opportunity for children to learn new words, starting from serendipity. Some of the other words for them to learn are globetrotters, scrumptious, inquisitive, and skulking.
I enjoyed this book and found nothing negative about it. I only saw one minor error while reading. Tim Aucoin edited this book beautifully. I also like how descriptive R.F. Kristi made this book, as this will help in forming the imaginative side of children. Therefore, I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.
I recommend Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat to children between the ages of six and eleven. This is a good book for parents, teachers, and guardians to read to children.
