Review of Blockhead

[Following is a volunteer review of "Blockhead" by Kyle J.S. Bardell.]
To start with, I will say that I did not find the story amusing. I had higher expectations from the novel than I received.
Blockhead is a sci-fi/fantasy novel written by Kyle J.S. Bardell and contains four parts: Broncho Ranch, Ultreau, City of light, Prestina, and these parts describe Broncho's journey throughout.
The story starts with Broncho left alone in charge of the ranch, named after her. She lives with her parents/governor Jericho and Rue and her younger brother Lockett.
She is a hard-working, caring girl who loves her parents. Unlike other areas, Broncho and Lockett are both heirs to the ranch. A few days later, Broncho makes a new friend named Wolfrum, the heir of Wolfrum forest. And when Sinjorino informs Broncho that she has to go to the Capital for her education and placement in society, she asks Wolfrum to run away with her. All she wants is a life without any barriers. But is a life without barriers possible?
After facing hardships while running away, she returns to the ranch and decides to go with Sinjorino to the Capital to complete her education. Will she be able to finish her education? What new misfortunes wait for her in the Capital? Read the novel to find out.
What I loved about the novel is its few characters which made it easier to follow the plot. And because of these few characters, the storyline was neat and, there were no unnecessary dialogues. Also, the development of the characters was exquisite. The main character, Broncho, matured to a great extent and started learning about the real struggles of life. Lockett, her younger brother, who had a childish nature in the beginning, matured enough to understand the world by the end of the novel.
The negative aspect of the novel is that sometimes it is not mentioned who is speaking which dialogue, which makes it a bit difficult to grasp the context.
The book has a unique and uncommon storyline. The novel starts at a slow pace but eventually picks up the pace. Since the plot is unpredictable, it creates suspense in the story and has an unexpected ending.
The book was professionally edited. I found only one minor error in the novel and, it did not disturb the flow of my reading. For this reason, I reward this novel with 4 out of 4 stars.
I would recommend this book to readers who expect an unexpected ending in a novel, love suspense in a story, and are a fan of sci-fi. This novel is definitely for you.
