It is said that if something appears too good to be true, it most likely is. This was especially true for poor Lin Hui, Cheung Mingzhu, Alina Balauru, and Matei Barbu. A Belfast man called Chief Sheehan and his Serious Crimes Unit to investigate a body that he discovered on his property. The body was that of a young Queen’s University student that fell victim to a life that she’d been living unwillingly. The team then discovered two more bodies, both from Queen's University, and the unit soon realized that they were all victims of the same murderer. The Serious Crimes team ran into dead ends until victims of this human trafficking ring who escaped from being held captive came forward and provided valuable information to Sheehan. Most people would dismiss the information as crumbs, but it was extremely valuable to Sheehan and his busy mind. Join the team as they rescue various captives, track down "The Shadow" and fight the crime of a human trafficking ring operating in Northern Ireland.

The Trafficking Murders by Brian O'Hare is a crime-thriller and mystery novel that will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat. There's no way to guess who is behind this operation, and you will have to read all the way to the end to find out. Throughout this journey, you will encounter joy, sadness, speculation, and questions to help you expand your imagination.

I liked not being able to predict the results of the investigations. Normally, I’m very good at predicting how a story will end, but not in this case! The book enthralled me because I couldn't put it down and was eager to learn about the next crumbs of information. I’m still surprised to have learned who "The Shadow" was, despite the fact that it made perfect sense. The victims were also realistic, and the emotions they evoked in me were astounding. The novel has provided me with a great deal of insight into how human trafficking rings operate and how some grown people become victims of these operations. I thought the information was very informative, and there were a few lessons to learn from it. It serves as a wake-up call to what is currently a global issue, as well as an inspiration to those who have overcome the horror they went through.

There was only one part of this book that I didn't enjoy. A chapter ended before one of the breakthroughs with Matei, and a new chapter began with a different scene for Sergeant Stewart. Later on, you will find that the previous chapter connects the two and concludes with this new chapter. However, I believe it attempted to heighten the suspense but had the opposite effect. At the beginning of the chapter, I couldn't focus because it went on for so long with Stewart's thoughts, and by the time the climax should have arrived, the suspense had already left me.

For me, the positives outweigh the negatives, so I give this book a perfect 4 out of 4 stars. This book was exceptionally well edited, and I couldn’t find any errors.

I recommend this novel to readers who are interested in human trafficking and want to learn more about the subject. Readers who are fond of detective novels and mysteries will also appreciate this book.

I've been wanting to read this book for a while now, as I enjoy crime thrillers but was a bit hesitant due to the human trafficking aspect. Your review has convinced me to pick it up and keep an open mind. Thank you!
