Faults by Orion Gregory follows Sydney Livingstone as she deals with a serious injury having the potential to end her career and a stalker threatening her life. The story begins with Sydney as she heads to what could possibly be the last tournament of her career if not of her life. She knows that she isn’t particularly a household name, and one can’t help but wonder how she caught the attention of a stalker and became their target.

Sydney drives to Silverhill, Ohio to participate in the annual Mainspring Mutual Open tournament hoping to qualify for the US Open. Her boyfriend Enzo and friend and doubles partner Anja are also going to be there to participate in the tournament. Her mother, childhood best friend and an unexpected guest are present to cheer Syd on. Shortly after arriving at her hotel, a knock on her door results in torments from ghosts of her past. She had received threats online which forced her to take safety precautions, but she hardly expected the threats to be delivered physically. She also couldn’t have anticipated how far the stalker would be willing to go to exact revenge. While her family and friends offer support and encouragement, one among them does not have her best interests at heart. Sydney has to not just try to qualify for the US Open, but also figure out who wants her dead, and stay alive.

A sensual case of rooting for the underdog, at 354 pages, Orion Gregory in Faults depicts regular young adults facing common young adult challenges and though not always being on top of them, overcoming. He explores subjects such as LGBTQI+, suicide, financial uncertainty, divorce, loss of a loved one, and relationships. The book focuses on friendship, forgiveness, reconciliation and, love. Highlighting the importance of letting go and moving on, and how one’s quest for revenge can ruin a life.

I particularly savored the suspense and had fun constantly trying to guess who Sydney’s stalker was. When the identity, plan, and intentions were eventually revealed, I admittedly had not seen it coming. I loved how how easy it was to identify with the characters and could see myself in various aspects of their lives.

I have zero knowledge of Tennis and this fueled my dislike for the extensive tennis jargon and didn't understand the tennis game in general. For instance I kept wondering why they were still playing when one player had won 5-3. I also struggled to remember who was who with the foreign names of some of the characters who turned out to not be essential enough to bother with.

Overall Faults was professionally edited and had few errors that did not interfere with the flow of the book. I enjoyed reading every bit of the it and rate it 4 out of 4 because my lack of understanding of Tennis is no fault of the author's.

I would recommend [/i]Faults[/i] to anyone who enjoys good romantic suspense and to young adults due to the relatable challenges that the characters face. The sexual content and profanity level in Faults is not R-rated but may not be appropriate for younger readers.
