The Ping-Pong Champion of Chinatown by James Hanna was a great delight to read. It is a humorous fictional book that was filled with some unbelievable adventure of the fictional character, twenty-three-year-old Gertie McDowell. The adventures were narrated by Gertie in the first-person narrative format. The book consists of eight interconnected stories, each containing one of the different adventures of Gertie. The book tells of the life story of Gertie who had hard luck as she was always misguided, deceived, and used by people she met along her journey through life. She was easy to be laid astray by people. However, as much as she got misguided and used, she had other friends; people she met too who were there to guide her back and help her when she needed it most.

After she left her hometown at Turkey Roost, Kentucky for a brighter life, Gertie McDowell started pursuing her dream to become a famous star in the acting career. However, things did not go the way she planned and she started her adventures. As much as she tried to live a life peacefully, she was always finding herself in some trouble or so. She was however in luck as she created bonds that were there for her to guide her from those troubles.

For me, when I am asked what makes me praise this book so much, I might as well say that everything pleases me about the book. I love the storyline and its fine development. I love how the story was narrated in a casual flow and language. I love the adventures of Gertie because of the mischiefs she got caught in, giving her clumsy but kind nature. I love that some of the time, phrases can be found possessing a hilarious manner of expression. Finally, I loved the title of the book that the author chose. I think that the title reflects the cheerfulness of the story.

For what I did not like in the book, I could not find any fault in the book. the book was well edited. I could not find any grammatical errors.

I rate the book 4 stars out of 4. My reason is that the book was made perfectly and other reasons which I mentioned in the earlier paragraph.

I recommend The Ping-Pong Champion of Chinatown to anyone who is a fan of fictional adventures especially if you are a fan of the humorous type.
