[Following is a volunteer review of "Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat" by R.F. Kristi.]
Another enthralling children’s book in the Inca Detective Series, Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi follows another adventure of Inca and the Detective Family as they travel to Sri Lanka. A museum has been robbed and it is up to the Inca Detective Agency to solve the crime. The adventure in Sri Lanka accompanies our curious and snoopy detective cat, along with the Detective Family and some new friends, as they venture to get to the bottom of this mystery. This book, much like the rest of the Inca Detective Series, is filled with educational information regarding the places Inca and the family travel to. It includes insights into culture, animals, UNESCO world wonders, and much more. Looking at animals as companions that give life a richer meaning.
There are numerous positive aspects to this book. The educational information is incredible, lending knowledge around the ancient wonders of Sri Lanka, its wildlife which includes its sea creatures, its traditional dress, its climate, and its tourism.
The book is beautifully illustrated, stretching a child’s imagination beyond the striking character descriptions. It wonderfully pulls together the value in teamwork and working together to reach success. The personification of the animal characters encourages empathy, respect, and love for the animal world and all its creatures.
There were no negative aspects identified in this book. It is professionally edited with no recognized errors. Some clarifications may have to be given for some of words used, which can, positively, expand a child’s vocabulary.
It is an absolute pleasure to rate Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi a perfect 4 out of 4 stars. A wonderfully adventurous, intriguing, informative, and engaging children’s book able to broaden young minds and lend curiosity around diverse cultures and animals.
The recommended audience includes children aged seven to twelve years of age. The book is suited to all receptive cultures (the book is written in English). The book is also appealing enough to entertain adults reading to children.
