The narrator rolls back the years to a time when he, as a youth, had unwittingly ventured into a realm of unconsciousness. He discovers that the life-sustaining force of this realm is the conversations of sentient beings living in the material world. His curiosity to find out more about this unconscious realm and it's relationship with the material world would prove to come with some tragic consequences. The narrator's sojourn into this unconscious realm would see him encounter a certain beast - a beast who would become a cause of his suffering. His quest to end that suffering would see the narrator seek the help of beings who are teacher-like figures in the unconscious realm. Extensive research, deep meditations, repeated experiments, and helping hands, would be what the narrator requires to scale this tumultuous journey.

The party line by Dennis D. Gagnon, is a well conceived piece of science fiction. The progression of story line and absence of unnecessary characters are some of the features I love about the book. Also, the in-depth analysis of well proven scientific theory by the narrator in order to arrive at his conclusions is beautifully presented in the text. Moreso, the manner in which the narrator's mind travels are presented is aesthetically pleasing and makes for good reading .

I totally enjoyed the book and didn't find any ground for a reprieve. It was professionally edited as well, without any grammatical errors, and so I'm rating it 4 out of 4. It's a book I'd love to re-read.

Mind travel is the dominant theme of the book, and lovers of this genre of science fiction will find this book interesting.
