A Walk Through the Grapes, written by David Jackson, is a combination of crime, mystery, thriller, and romance. This story is centred on Jace Grazer, the prodigal son of the Grazer family. The Grazer family lives in Willowcreek. They own a vineyard. Jace abandons his family and his lover, Ally; he goes to New York City in pursuit of an acting career. Jace actually steals the family savings before absconding to New York. He fails woefully in New York and returns to Willowcreek. His family is happy to have him back; this actually makes Jace feel uneasy.

His parents are getting old and will soon pass down the family business to their children. However, things do not go as planned. Dane throws a bonfire party to welcome Jace back. Dane and Jace get into a fight. Dane goes missing after the party; as well, a murder is committed after the party. The police begin an investigation, and Jace is a primary suspect. Many mysterious events take place, and life is not going well for Jace. He decides to conduct an investigation; what he finds will blow your mind. His family has many secrets, and he knows nothing about them.

Have you ever read a book twice in one week? That was how I read this book. This is the best story I have read this year! The characterization is impressive. This is seen especially in the character of the protagonist. Jace is a good man, who loves his family. However, he is impulsive, and this causes a lot of problems in his life. The scenes in this novel are beautifully described; I felt like I was seeing a movie. The author portrays the Grazer family with great finesse; I felt like I was a member of the family.

This book is a unique story that makes for an entertaining read; it is one of those books that you cannot put down once you start reading it. This book advocates for unconditional love. Despite the fact that Jace abandons his family, they still accept him back and show him great love. This book is professionally edited; I found only one error in it. The diction used to execute this story is simple, concise, and clear.

From the first page to the last, I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I did not find any fault in this book; hence, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this story to young adults that are facing family problems.

Jace probably wishes he had stayed away! There always seems to be trouble between family members as they come into their own and everyone has their own opinion. It’s especially true when they all live in close proximity.
