[Following is a volunteer review of "Bitcoin Answered" by Jon Law.]
The book Bitcoin Answered by Jon Law with Alan John as a Contributor was written as a short and interesting guide for readers who want to know more about Bitcoin, but also cryptocurrencies as a phenomenon of today. The book is interspersed with numerous chapters, usually only a few pages long, which are designed to provide readers with an answer to a specific question. When writing the book, the author tried to use as few technical terms as possible and to present the content of the book in a way that is easily understood by everyone. The book is complemented by numerous drawings, graphs, and tables that further illustrate the information presented.
Readers will learn what Bitcoin is and how it works, as well as how it can be acquired. Readers who are interested in this topic will also have the opportunity to find out how many Bitcoins are currently in circulation and how many are planned to be in circulation at all. The author also tried to explain the differences between different types of Bitcoin wallets. The book includes a list of Bitcoin slang as well as Bitcoin acronyms, and at the end of the book there is also a glossary. In addition to Bitcoin, the author explained in more detail the entire concept of cryptocurrencies and, in brief, outlined the practical aspect of trading in these financial instruments.
What I liked about Bitcoin Answered was the simplicity of the language the author chose to introduce the Bitcoin phenomenon to readers. Technical terms are kept to a minimum, which makes the book very pleasant to read. Although one can get the impression that the author advocates the use of Bitcoin, this is by no means the case, because in several places the author pointed out the necessary caution due to frequent fluctuations in the price of the most famous cryptocurrency. One of the most interesting chapters for me is the one titled "How would you explain Bitcoin to a 5-year-old?" and I think that it best reflects the intentions of the author. For all the presented data, the sources to which the author refers are listed, which makes the book reliable.
While reading the book, I did not notice anything that I did not like. The book is excellently edited because I came across only one typo while reading it. The author has always maintained an argumentatively critical attitude towards Bitcoin and objectivity, which I highly appreciate.
Deciding how to rate the Bitcoin Answered book was quite easy. I rate the book with four out of four stars. The author has found a perfect balance between explaining complex technological processes to the average reader in simple language and with minimal use of professional terminology. In that procedure, the author never deviated from the argued facts and kept a neutral attitude towards Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies all the time.
I recommend the book to readers who are interested in investing in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. I believe that the book will be the right choice for readers who want to satisfy their curiosity about how the phenomenon of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies work in general but were discouraged from getting information by a lack of technical knowledge and frequent misinformation.
