[Following is a volunteer review of "E M P Honeymoon" by Dorothy May Mercer.]
EMP Honeymoon is an action thriller by Dorothy May Mercer with a tiny humorous plot in between. Sgt. Tom Turbulo and Kelly McBride, a newly united couple are on their honeymoon when Kelly discovers some suspicious activity at the back of a very artfully decorated gift shop named” La Pocilga.” Tom and Kelly decide to investigate these terror activities partially leaving their honeymoon. The story takes an unusual turn when the other members get involved in the investigation.
EMP in the title refers to Electro-Magnetic Pulse. I enlightened this terminology in the review itself so that it is easy for the readers to go through the plot. The synergy of all the members of the USA team was amazing from start to end. I equally enjoyed the musical chemistry between Steve and Sharon, I wish the writer could have added more about them in the book. The use of various references and scientific ideas in the book is what makes this plot intriguing. The author has performed a great deal of background research on united states space commands and satellites and also on Honduras Island. The ending of this novel is exceptional with a minor twist at the end which I truly did not mark it coming.
This story is composed admirably. The main subject of terrorism was exciting. Characters are effectively developed, and the story was narrated smoothly in a way any reader can imagine its plot. Switching from one incident to the other was correctly executed. I loved the character representation of su-jin, it was quite bizarre.
If we talk about the negative aspects, they are very few. This book is not stocked with a great deal of suspense, but if you are looking for a mild 220-page action novel to read for an hour, this one is perfect for you. I got puzzled with those Korean names in the middle, but that’s not a big issue. In my personal opinion, this tale would have been more fascinating if the author had presented some magnetism between the newlywed couple.
I give EMP honeymoon 4 out of 4-star ratings as I immensely enjoyed reading this book. This tale is not very fast placed but at the same time, you can’t call it monotonous, in its way this plot was balanced. The target audience for this book is distinctly the young population who loves to read about science, satellites, and terrorism.
