[Following is a volunteer review of "Evan and Friends Meet the Pirates" by Chris Williams.]
Evan, Violet, and Grayson are three adventurous little kids. They are the main characters of the children's book Evan and Friends Meet the Pirates creatively written by Chris Williams. Even though this book was the second installation of the Evan and Friends Series, it can be read as a stand-alone.
The adventure of the three friends started while spending their holiday in Wales. After an energetic breakfast, Evan and his friends swam not far away from where they were staying. Evan's parents warned the three kids not to go far from the seaside but a tremendous wave came over them and brings them to an unknown island. The three little kids were so shocked and they don't know what they will do until suddenly, a ship full of pirates approached them. And their eventful adventure begins.
The book has a lot of commendable features but one of those is the colorful animation. The author inserts colorful and sometimes humorous pictures of the scenes from time to time. Since the targeted audience of the book are children, I'm sure the pictures will be truly appreciated. Those pictures will not just help the readers to absorb the scenes but also make their reading more engaging. The author also included an uncolored copy of the pictures in the last part.
Another thing I liked the most about this book is the comprehensibility it offers. The author uses words that are easy to comprehend and didn't use complicated sentences.
I just noticed a few minor errors but it didn't affect the quality of the book. Despite the negative aspect I mentioned, I still award it a complete rating of four out of four stars. The book is highly recommended for children who love adventure. This book can also be read before the kids go to bed since it only has 50 pages excluding the pictures. Adults who want to read children's books might also like this.
