Review of Fish Wielder

[Following is a volunteer review of "Fish Wielder" by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison.]
It all started in the mystical world of Grome, in the dark corner of the Inn of the Gruesomly Gashed Gnome. Thoral Mighty Fist is drinking warm ale (which he hates) to dull his sullen mood. His best friend Brad, the talking koi fish, encourages him to go on a dangerous adventure to which Thoral readily agrees.
Thoral and Brad set off on Warlordhorse, a tiger-striped steed, on an adventure where they fight an evil sorcerer and rescue the Elven princess Nalweegie. That’s the start of another adventure, as Thoral has pledged to finish the Bad Religion and stop their leader, the Heartless One, from getting the legendary Pudding of Power.
Fish Wielder by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison is a fascinating tale. It is the first book in the trilogy which packs a powerful punch with unique storyline, well-developed characters and page-turning plots. The story is amusing and loaded with gruesome fight scenes and clichéd humor. I had a lot of fun reading this book. It had the right amount of silly and entertaining moments and jaw-dropping action scenes. You can look at the cover page to get a glimpse of the action.
Thoral is a clean freak and isn’t the most articulate guy. Brad is the brain of the group of two and completes the unfinished part of Thoral’s sentences. I liked their conversations and friendship. When Thoral reveals his unpleasant past to Brad, it displays the trust he has in him.
All characters had a certain depth and one of the many characters which stood out for me was Trenton. In the novel, he is revealed to be an acquaintance of Thoral. He is a naïve guy with an honest personality, which gets him into difficult situations. He’s a funny character and speaks honestly, and his parts were comical.
This book is a parody of chronicles of Narnia and Wizard of Oz. I haven’t read parodies before, so it was a wonderful experience for me. The author has remarkable talent in storytelling and story writing, as the story was brilliantly told. I commend the author’s writing style as it was vivid, animated and expressive.
I rate Fish Wielder a perfect 4 out of 4 stars. The novel is exceptionally edited as there were no errors which provided a pleasant reading experience. I recommend it to readers who like reading satire and comedic fantasy. I would also like to recommend it to those who are feeling down and prefer to read something light-hearted.
There isn’t anything which I dislike about the book. It is a hilarious story but not for everybody and it convinced me of a fact that not every ending is “The End”.
