[Following is a volunteer review of "The Watchmaker’s Doctor" by G. M. T. Schuilling.]
Anaya is a 32-year-old doctor whose best life is a struggle. She suffers from bipolar 2. One minute Anaya is so high that she has Hyper mania. The next minute, Anaya is so low that getting out of bed is a battle. Being a doctor, she often finds herself medicating. Anaya has patients and has to visit, talk with, and provide medication they need. Anaya often feels she should be a patient and not the doctor. As a young girl witnessing the breakdown of her parent's marriage due to her father's Bipolar and many bad memories from her youth. The Watchmakers Doctor by G. M. T. Schuilling is a story of how Anaya can overcome her illness. The editing of this book is of very high quality.
I loved this book. It is the first book of a series of Erase and Unwind Novellas. There is a time alert at the beginning of each chapter, so you never get mixed up. Each character we meet comes to life, so you can automatically see them in your minds-eye. The story flowed so well you don't realize just how many pages you've read. The storyline is and plot for this series of novellas is first class and works wonderfully. The idea for this story is very clever. This story makes you wonder how life would be if time travel ever is reality. Suffering from depression myself, I can see that Anaya's Bipolar has been carefully researched and understood. The ending of this book satisfied me as it is left open for the next novella. Anaya is a likable character, and the family and friends are also easy to understand and like. I also liked that there was a picture of three cogs at the beginning of each chapter that you may find in watches. It is a charming touch.
There is nothing to dislike about this book. I will be telling everyone I know that it is necessary to get these books. You find yourself escaping into Anaya's world very quickly. The book is an ideal length to read in full if busy. It would also make an excellent gift for someone in hospital as it is well written. You soon find yourself immersed in Anaya's world.
I have given this book 4 out of 4 stars. After reading this story, you find yourself needing to get the rest in the series. With no errors, this book is brilliant.
This book is a must for those who enjoy the sci./fi fantasy genre. There is no foul language or explicit narratives, making this an ideal gift for young adults.
