The friendship between 3 ladies — Jesi, Nicole and Rachael — slowly takes an unexpected turn when they encounter the weed lady in Jesi and Nicole’s front yard. This leads to Jesi becoming consumed by this mysterious lady who always appears in their front yard to pick out weeds after every rainstorm. Jesi’s interest in this weed lady leads her into finding out about her upsetting past and this puts her relationship with Nicole and Rachael at risk.

The Weed Lady by Shea R. Embry is a fictional novel which concentrates on one factor which is healing from the past. As you read through this book you will encounter characters with their own sort of backstory and traumatic experiences. It makes you realise that first impressions aren’t always accurate when judging a person’s character. You sometimes have to dig a little deeper to find out why a person behaves in a certain manner. Life experiences do play a role in how we we interact with other people. As much as this novel is a story; it also shows us different ways in which people deal with different problems, pains and struggles. It can also give you as a reader an idea on how to handle conflict.

What I enjoyed the most about this book were the unexpected turn of events throughout the story as well as the different morals you can derive from the story.

What I did not like about this book in the beginning was that I felt like the story was a bit rushed and progressing too fast. There was an instance where time also moved too fast in the book. Although as you read on it no longer seems that way and the story flows much better.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I would have given this book 4 stars if the beginning did not feel rushed. I also felt like some parts of the story could have been lengthened and some events described in more detail. Nevertheless this is an enjoyable book with minor errors and the storyline is not predictable.

This book is recommended for people who love meditation and spiritual healing as it contains scenes where there is that specific setting. It has a laid back theme that would attract cool, calm and collected people. There are no parts in the book that are too extreme or upsetting to sensitive readers.
