The Demon of Reginhart by Penn Scripter is a dark fantasy novel that pulls you in from the very first sentence. The story revolves around the character Marcus. Marcus is a being that plays host to a mage named Asmara and a demon named Tiecus. Marcus a character that might seem almost human like is actually an agreement, a mediator between the mage forbidden to harm anyone and the demon that feeds on humans.

As he is busy fighting a war within himself to prevent the destruction of the mage and demon by each other, he is sent by the king Valder to protect the town of Reginhart. In Reginhart, he meets Platt, a local girl who agrees to live with him to save the people of the town from Tiecus’s bloodlust. Marcus and Platt forced to live with each other eventually fall in love. But will fate be with them?

One thing that I really liked about the book was the character of Marcus. There are not many books that show such a character. The character is written really precisely and it makes the story even more interesting. It was really creative of the writer to put three characters in one body. His character was really intriguing and it was him that led me to read the book in the first place.

The writing style was also very good. Marcus was shown to have three characters in one body which could lead to readers not being able to differentiate between them but each of them were given a quiet distinct personality. Another thing that really drew me in were how even the side characters were given a different storylines. I really liked the focus on importance of agreements and promises by the character Marcus, it showed how little we value them and how easily we break many promises in real life without any consequences.

I didn’t like the character of Platt that much. She was very courageous to go live with Marcus to save the people of town from him but it would have been a little better if she tried to understand him at some points. I would have also like it more if some characters were explored more.

I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because I just loved reading it. I recommend this book to fantasy lovers but readers that are sensitive should not consider reading it as there are explicit violence scenes. The Demon of reginhart is a kind to book that you just can’t stop reading and I would really recommend people to read it.
