Review of Happiness is All We Want!

[Following is a volunteer review of "Happiness is All We Want!" by Ashutosh Mishra.]
Happiness is all we want is a truly genuine book aimed to help the self truly evolve into its happiest form. This book gives practical advice and activity suggestions to help the reader reach their ultimate goal: happiness. It takes the ancient ways of living, particularly the ancient ways of Indians, and compares it to modern living. This book aims to combine modern living with the wisdom of those who came many years before us, so that we may live our happiest lives.
I am a sucker for books that aid in self-evolution and Ashutosh Mishra did not disappoint. I am truly a fan of the mere fact that Mishra opted to put actual activities in the book. He also gives reasons as to why these activities are to be implemented, instead of just giving the reader a vague to-do list. The book also contains scenarios and anecdotes that engages the reader and give perspective to the message of the book as a whole. The book is very well edited and I am left without complaints regarding that area. I appreciate the thought prompts given throughout the book - it helps with fully grasping the message and shows that the author has the readers’ best interest in mind.
As much as I genuinely enjoyed the book, I will say that the author comes off as a bit preachy sometimes. There are times where the author came on too strong and left me feeling annoyed at the end of a chapter. To be precise, there are parts of the book that felt forceful; although this feeling may be caused by me not fully agreeing with the author all the time. (which is to be expected when reading any book.)
Happiness is all we want deserves a 3 out of 4 stars. The book feels very genuine and gives advice and tips that are actually beneficial. The way the author construes his message gives off a sense of calm knowing that happiness truly is in reach. I felt as though I was passively learning throughout the book: I would be left pondering over the contents in the book long after having put the book down.
I recommend this book to anyone seeking spiritual growth or those simply looking for balance and contentment in their everyday lives. I suggest that you take your time reading this book, so that you may fully digest and incorporate the wisdom and advice given in this book.
