Review of Looking Glass Friends

[Following is a volunteer review of "Looking Glass Friends" by E L Neve.]
Looking Glass Friends written by E. L. Neve is a beautiful fictional love story filled with excitement, sadness, secrets, and heartbreak all in one.
Neil and Ellie have a chance encounter one afternoon at a bakery that will forever change both of their lives. Neil gives his secret stash of cream puffs to customer Ellie. In return, Ellie purchases a copy of her favorite book and includes her contact information, and leaves it as a gift for Neil at the bakery. Neither were looking for anything other than friendship as they both were married.
As the two strangers begin exchanging emails with small talk of books and poetry, a friendship develops. Soon their friendship leads to something so much more that sends both of their lives in a whirlwind. Both Neil and Ellie are in what seems to be love-less marriages to others. Ellie has a small child, and the ultimate decision of what is best for her child may keep her from true happiness. Will love or logic win? A realistic story of soulmates unexpectedly finding one another.
What I loved most about this book was how realistic the story was. As I was reading, I could feel how Ellie was feeling when writing those emails to Neil. I could feel the excitement and anticipation of the phone calls between Ellie and Neil. I found myself unable to stop reading to find out what would happen next.
I was honestly unable to find one single thing that I did not like about the book, which is why I am rating Looking Glass Friends a 4 out of 4 stars. I would say that the book was professionally edited as I could only find one minor grammatical error. This, however, did not take away from the excellent way that E.L. Neve wrote with such detail that I could mentally picture Ellie’s world as I was reading.
Looking Glass Friends is the most realistic and attention-grabbing book that I have read in quite some time. I found myself saddened to reach the ending. A beautiful love story that develops through an emotional and intellectual connection that is unlike no other. In my opinion, this book expresses how true love should feel.
If you enjoy reading romance novels, you won’t want to miss this one. I would highly recommend this book for someone who enjoys a great love story along with mature content at times. A true romantic young or old, won’t regret reading. I would consider Looking Glass Friends a must-read.
