If you are trying to maintain a healthier lifestyle by changing your dietary choices, concidering dietary supplements and detoxifying agents, or looking for advice on the best natural products to use, and are tired of the manipulation of the media, then Health Tips, Tricks and Myths by Morton E. Travel, MD is the book for you.

Health Tips, Myths, and Tricks is divided into three main sections, and has a total of 62 chapters. These chapters cover a set of topics connected to different health issues as well as other general topics. Tips is the first section, and it focuses on giving advice on different issues affecting our daily life and outlook on our general health. It's main focus of discussion is on scientific findings of food substances that are incorporated into our diet, such as junk food, olives, coffee and many others. It also includes chapters on artificial sweeteners and electronic cigarettes and what they can do to affect our overall health if ingested. The second section covers Myths. It tackles different misconceptions, that stem from different cultures around the world, concerning fortified foods, allergies, organic food, and many others. And finally, the third section talks about Tricks. the section discusses strategies that are designed to manipulate the mindset of the general public, to believe in things like detoxifying agents and alkaline water.

The chapters are so well written and informative. Each chapter may fall under a particular section in the book, but they overlap between the three sections which makes everything line up well and connect in such an amazing way. Dr. Travel does a very good job of writing this book as it's contents are very insightful and have a great way of making it understandable for the reader. It helps the reader understand alittle more about what is considered a myth, concerning their health and what isn't. This is very important as believing in a certain myth makes such a person an easy target for alot of commercialized scams by companies preying on these vulnerable people.

Dr. Tavel did a fantastic job of clearly stating his findings and making the book understandable. Very few medical practitioners can put a point across without using scientific jargon, and I was very impressed by how well he did it. He did not come to a conclusion on a product he didn't have sufficient evidence for, but did conclude if he had enough evidence to support his claims, which is a good way to not give any advice that's not based or facts.

However, the one thing I did not like about this book was, with the PDF format, the editing was very poor. I do not know if the editing for other formats is just as bad, but it was very easy to spot. These errors were not spelling or grammar related, but more related to the editing. Errors when it came to the numerical bullets, unaligned margins and many others were noted. They were very visible and did affect the reading process quite a bit for me.

Because of this, I deducted a star from my rating. Thus, I give this book 3 out of 4 . If these errors can be worked on, I would give this book a perfect rating. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book, and think it was a really good read. I would recommend anyone who loves health related books, to read this one, as I think they would really like it.
