Review of Randy the Irresistible
The book, Randy the Irresistible, by S. M Goodier, is a story of a young man known as Randy. Randy lived in a rich neighborhood with his father. His siblings, James and Harriet had already made it in life and were working. John, Randy's father did not have good terms with one of his neighbors, Mrs Edna with whom he had even warned Randy against welcoming her to their home. This differences arose because of Randy and also his dog. Randy would not follow the rules in taking care of the dog and this caused a great deal in their differences. Randy was a student in Brighton University, and had already completed his third year of study, yet to do away with his final year. His father was bit worried of his stay at home and the thought that he might not complete his studies. He would make Randy desire success and thus he offered him a great life. He even gave his son the desire to apply for this job, which Randy went for interview for agency work. However, his father's friend, Michael would discourage it as it was his usual habit of terrorizing John's children, and jokingly was against their success. Michael also bragged on how he had dealt with women, but Randy did not like it as he had not gotten involved with women yet. Later, Shelly, who was secretary in the in the place he went for interview, called and flirted, Randy flirted back. This was where he started trouble with women.
I love everything about the book, especially the use of dialogue in the book which makes it fun to read. I also enjoyed the use of sarcasm where he described Shelly as having long nails which made her hold the pen like a small child learning how to write. The author has great ability to use poetic phrases while writing the book. I also love the use of vivid description used in writing the book as it adds taste of the book. The ordinariness of the story makes it fun to read as the author chose common ideas which always occur in our lives.
Although the book is is very interesting, the sudden change of the incidences spoilt the flow of the story. This is the use of many ideas which leaves the reader dissatisfied with the previous. Also the author has developed many characters which makes it so confusing to understand clearly the role of each and every character in the book.
I rate the book four out of four stars. This is because the story is so fascinating, and makes one enjoy reading. I also did not notice any mistakes, this proves that the book is professionally edited.
Young adults would be the appropriate group I would recommend this book. This is because it is about a story of a young adult, Randy and his common life. Also the book would be great in the hands of story lovers as the book shows Randy's story in his life.
