Fear Not, Dream Big, & Execute is a motivational and conversational book written by Jeff Meyer. Meyer uses a unique format of ‘lessons’ rather than chapters to guide his readers through valuable life lessons and straightforward application. Think of this book as sitting down with a life coach. Learn to face your fears through Scripture, accountability, and self-evaluation. Also, be challenged to have the confidence to dream big and the confidence to follow through. As I did, I believe this book will leave every reader inspired and motivated to tackle their dreams.

From the beginning, Meyer makes it clear that the structure of this book is going to be unique. While the lessons (chapters) are not structured in a way where they build off one another or even flow into one another, each lesson is packed with stand-alone illustrations, instruction, and direct application. Another unique and possibly my favorite feature of Fear Not, Dream Big, & Execute is the ‘try this’ section at the end of each lesson. This section is a space for the reader to reflect and apply if necessary.

One negative aspect of this book is the structure. To avoid confusion or frustration, know that this book is meant to be read in a fashion where the reader simply takes what he needs for the day. For example, instead of reading the book straight through, the author invites you to pick whatever lesson you may need for the day or for the week you have ahead of you.
While the author does make it clear that it is a pick and choose format, as an avid reader who enjoys sitting down with a book for an hour at a time, it was difficult for me to get into the flow of this read.

Because each chapter is a stand-alone chapter, I had to actually pause at the end of each chapter just so I would not get confused going into a new and unrelated life lesson. On the other hand, the ‘try this’ section is a helpful, consistent reminder to take this read slow, soak it in, and apply the lessons as they come.

I give this book 3 out of 4 stars because of the unique structure of the lessons/chapters. I would recommend this book to anyone with a dream, whether big or small and to anyone in a position that involves inspiring or motivating others.
