Vagabond by Mary A.J. tells the story of a girl named Cecelia, who happens to be Lucifer’s daughter. She is half-human, half-demon, and is the Princess of Hell. She once ruled Hell with her father, Lucifer. Cecelia was tired of killing hundreds of innocent people and turned back on her humanity. Lucifer didn’t like this decision. He wanted her to rule as Princess. She was held hostage and tortured in the lake of fire. Somehow, she miraculously escaped to Earth. She has enrolled as a junior at Cornelia High. She is constantly watching her back to see when Lucifer finds her.

Cecelia has a strange connection to a student named Sebastian. She’s never been in love or has even had feelings towards another human. The more she learns about him the more feelings she is developing. Cecilia also has a strange connection to another student named, Alexander Draven. He also happens to be a demon. Cecelia is trying to figure out if he has any alterer motives and what he is doing at Cornelia High.

I appreciated the cover art. The artwork was enticing and made me want to look more into the book. I loved the connection between Seb and Cecelia. I was intrigued by the dark magic the school possessed as well. Cecelia has to choose between good and evil. She is drawn to the pure and sweet human who would do anything for her. However, she is also entranced by the demon. My favorite part of the book was the battle at the end. I loved how the two demons joined together to fight Lucifer’s army. I gasped when we figured out who Cecelia’s mother was. It was a plot twist for sure. The end left an amazing cliffhanger.

It was a little slow at first to get into the book. However, it was all necessary to build-up the story. I was hooked once things picked up.

I rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars. I'm not usually drawn towards romance books. This book had more than just romance. It was also different from a lot of other books involving demons. They gave Cecelia more human-like qualities compared to similar books. I loved this book and the author’s writing style. I'm hoping they come out with more books and make this a series. This book was edited exceptionally well. I noticed no errors.
