Blockhead by Kyle J.S. Bardell is a story that starts when Bronco is left in charge of the family ranch. Bronco is a hard-working girl who likes to do her job and is a responsible member of the family. However, like a lot of teenagers, she is always underestimated and misunderstood by her loved ones. Although Bronco is young, her character is described as that of a guardian. Bronco is a very kind person and a very different journey awaits her as the plot of the story progresses.

The author's writing style is imaginative and I found myself very well absorbed in the text. The story is intriguing and it has the potential of keeping readers engaged. The character description is good but as far as their development is concerned they didn't seem to improve much. A few characters seemed irrelevant to the story, and their role wasn't explained properly even though they appeared as major characters at first. The bond between the family has been described beautifully in the book. The story is a little complicated and has a lot of unexpected plot twists. The description of places made me feel like I was there looking at these buildings, forests, and mountains, which is praiseworthy.

The text is very well edited and I found only a few errors. There are a few instances where extreme physical violence and slavery are mentioned. There is little to no profanity in the text because of which it is suitable for children as well. There are no explicit sexual descriptions to worry about either. One more thing that came to my attention is that the plot seemed to progress slowly but the story ended abruptly leaving some questions unanswered. The story is not at all predictable, and I enjoyed every part of this book. The text also involves sci-fi fantasies, robots, and many other things which added a very interesting element to the book.

I would give this book 3 out of 4 stars because of the flaws in the character development that I have mentioned. The story could have benefitted from some more character development. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy stories filled with unexpected events. The twists and turns are fascinating and way more complicated than what you will be expecting. I would not recommend this book to those who find minor instances of slavery and violence triggering. I enjoyed this book and it's worth a read.
