I remember back then in the university, I was having a conversation with one of my best girls who had unusually been detached from activities. I asked her what the reason for her quietness was and in a very thoughtful and unhappy voice, she replied, “I am trying to find myself”. In a bid to lighten her mood, I mentioned that the phrase, ‘I want to find myself’ was a popular one amongst our generation. I went ahead to ask her where she had lost herself because we only try to find lost things. She laughed and became more cheerful after that. While I only joked to make her smile, I couldn’t help but give her reply a thought. I concluded that the process of finding oneself was very necessary in the life of every human. I also realized that it was a requirement for success. In my opinion, the first step to becoming you is to find whoever ’you’ is. The Maestro Monologue by Rob White is an absolute guide to finding oneself.

In The Maestro Monologue, Rob White takes the readers through the journey of consciously taking over their minds and opening them up to better heights of thoughts that help create more desired realities, as opposed to the former stifling thoughts which can be blamed for some undesirable outcomes of life. The author makes it clear that the outer world and the courses of actions taken by people are the results of the state of their inner worlds.

The Maestro Monologue is divided into four parts. The first part discusses the concept of understanding yourself and being more self-aware. Part two explains the concept of intrusion. I got to realize that there is an active intruder within me that I must harm myself against. In part three, readers are finally enlightened on the concept of the maestro. Based on the foundation that was already established in the first and second part, the writer explains how each person can activate the role of being their maestro and take actions that result in more desirable outcomes. The writer finished off by going through how it all began for him.

This book is very motivating and enlightening. It makes the readers aware of elements of themselves that have been present from creation, and have been contributing to their successes and failures. Knowledge of these elements places us in the position of knowing how to deal with them to create more successes than failures. What I appreciate most about this book is that it contains practical and realistic steps that one can take to attain the outcomes explained in the book. I also love that some personal experiences were shared. I found these experiences very relatable and it made the book feel more like a guide, not just a novel.

I did not find anything to dislike about The Maestro Monologue. It is well-written in simple language, easy to understand and relate with, perfectly well-edited and the information contained in it is golden. Based on these, I give the book a rating of four out of four stars. I recommend it to every youth and teenager who is up for living a successful life.
