Review of Happiness is All We Want!
Happiness Is All We Want! by Ashutosh Mishra is a book that gives guidance on how to live a happy and fulfilling life by focusing on three aspects, our mind, body, and spirit.
In the first part, the writer discusses mental wellbeing. This part advises the reader to have a comprehensive wishlist. The wishlist should revolve around the five most important spheres of their lives which include; Health and Wellbeing, Relationships, Career or Profession, Wealth, and Philanthropy. One should think deeply think about these spheres and figure out what they really want in each. This part also talks about expectations, which usually are responsible for stealing our peace of mind. The author gives to manage them together with practical tips one can take action on.
The second part is about Physical Well-being. Here he discusses the importance of taking care of one's boy and being physically healthy. He talks about proper nutrition and balancing one's diet, and also the importance of making physical exercise part of one's routine. Some of the exercises suggested include walking, running, gyming, swimming, weight training, and yoga. He also explains why exercise and fitness programs fail and gives tips on how one can be successful.
The third part is about spiritual wellbeing. Here the author discusses the concept of karma and rebirth. He explains the importance of having good and quality sleep. He talks about the different fears that we tend to have and tips on how to overcome them. Finally, he talks about spiritual cleansing, making the right choices, and tips for spiritual advancement which include mindfulness, meditation, and Yoga.
I love how the author first tells us the reason we are living unhappy lives. He says we are living our lives with a mindless pursuit, that we cannot even tell what we are pursuing. For this reason, we are still unhappy even after achieving what we desired and moving on to the next target. This creates a cycle and we do not get a chance of enjoying and celebrating the small achievements we make. He goes on to explain the various aspects of our lives, what we do wrong and practical tips to work on.
The book is so inspiring and at the same time challenges the reader to change and improve their lifestyle in terms of physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing. Though the writer is talking about common things talked about by speakers like eating well, exercising, and waking up early, he has explained in depth the importance of these activities in our lives.
I found the book easy to read because it is well laid out and the topics arranged in a way that is easy to follow and understand. The chapters begin with introductions, then the whys, practical tips of how-to, and then a summary of things to do and things to think about. The author has also included happiness moments and well-being stories of people who tell their personal experiences. This helps the reader to understand the magnitude of the issues being discussed and how practical the advices are and that they are workable. At the end of the book, the writer has put a table summarizing the Smart Well-being Capsule activities discussed in the book including page numbers and the time taken to implement each one of them. For these reasons, I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars. Though there were a few mistakes, this did not hinder me from the book.
I recommend the book to anyone who wants to change their lifestyle and take charge of happiness in their lives. The book will give practical tips for having a happy life. It is helpful to those who feel stuck in their exercise programs or spiritual development. The book is a good read for anyone who wants to live a happy and fulfilling life.
