Review of the book Apotheosis Now
"The book Apotheosis Now - Rabbit Hole to
the Beyond" by Yanhao Huong is a
non-fiction book that has has been written
with a purpose of delivering the reader
from limitations that come from within.
As the book starts all the way to the
climax, the author takes the reader
through the barriers of humanity such as
the ego; which has been deeply discussed,
to ways of freeing oneself from such
limitations and acquiring true
consciousness. In eight well sought
chapters, Yanhao takes the reader
through elaborate steps into self
discovery and liberation from hindrances
that come from within; with ego coming
out clearly as the principal obstacle to
human consciousness. The author has
heavily employed the concept of
rhetorical questions all along the book to
connect the reader to the concepts being
taught and also enable him or her run a
self test on the concept being addressed.
Actually, the book starts with a rhetorical
question,
"Do you want happiness or
success?"
, and develops on the concept
of human mind, what it wants versus what
it really needs all along the text. As the
author concludes in chapter eight the last
sentence, he puts across that,
"As you
continue to abide as your true nature, you will transform unconsciousness into consciousness - transmute iron into gold , ego to God - and that is true Apotheosis."
The author has carefully arranged his
concept in a manner that is simple to
understand and engaging to read.
Sentences connect to the next, sub
chapters mutually connect and so is the
chapters. I liked how as I read through the
book, it felt like am being taken step by
step in a process of self realization. Also
the use of the first person pronoun all
along the text engages the reader
directly and brings him on a one on one
connection with the concept which to me
was really a good thing. The author has
used traditional examples as in page 96
the third paragraph where he talks of the
yogic tradition and to me that was
interesting and also educative as he tells
of different cultures and beliefs. The book
is also well authored and professionally
edited since I barely saw an error, be it
conceptual or grammatical.
As I was reading the book, I realized the
author has really borrowed concepts from
other authors and books especially from
author Allan Watts and his works. As
much as it helped strengthen his ideas
and opinions, I felt like it was over done
and to some extent denying the author's
ideas the originality they should posses.
I found the book engaging, educative and
somehow entertaining to read. I
appreciate the authors effort to talk about
such a topic in such an engaging manner.
I therefore award this book a "3 out of 4
stars" because I believe were it not for the
high level of borrowing from other
sources;which might have been necessary
for the author to fully present his ideas,
the book clearly meets the authors
expectations.
I would highly recommend the youths to
read this book as they are in the stage of
self realization and this book has been
written to purposely help the reader
understand the true concept of humanity
and self realization. It is also a great
choice for any person who fancies educative non-fiction books be it a child or an adult.
