[Following is a volunteer review of "Rise of the Savior" by Antoine Bonner.]
Amanda would have been more prepared for what fate had in store for her if life had come with a manual. The book Rise Of The Savior: Acolyte of Truth by Antoine Bonner is about a girl named Amanda. Amanda, a recent high school graduate, was trying to figure out what to do with her life when she discovered that she has a deity named the Deity of Truth, and that she is the acolyte of truth destined to save the world from destruction. She refused to accept her responsibility as the acolyte of truth and pretended that everything about being the acolyte of truth was all in her head. However, Amanda's life became a nightmare when the acolyte of death went on a rampage to save his sick son. He killed Amanda's parents in a bid to capture Amanda's sister Saira, the acolyte of transcendence, in order to use her to cure his son because he believed that using an acolyte like her would elongate his son's life. What will Amanda do now that she understands that deities and acolytes are real and should be taken seriously, especially because some of them are evil and can take away everyone and everything she cares about in the blink of an eye? Is it too late for Amanda to put her selfishness aside and accept her role as the acolyte of truth in order to save her sister and the rest of the world?
I like how the book is written in simple English and how well organised the author's writing is, making the story easy to understand. Another aspect of the book that I like is that it is written in the present tense, which makes the plot seem more real and interesting to me, despite the fact that it is a science fiction novel. I really like the captivating image on the book's cover; it was the first thing that drew my attention and piqued my interest in knowing more about the story.
Nonetheless, I am not satisfied with the book's ending. It seems unfinished from my perspective. It is as if a part of the story was finished in this book and the other part is supposed to continue in another sequel. Although the author did not say whether or not there would be a sequel, I am hoping there will be one because the story will then make more sense. The book has just a few errors, and since I totally enjoyed reading this book, I will give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.
I would recommend this book to anyone who appreciates science fiction and wants to read a science fiction book that feels real, as if the events in the book are happening right at the very moment that he or she is reading about them. The book teaches motivation and encourages teamwork in a unique way, so I will also recommend it to individuals that are looking for a book that will inspire them.
