With unpredictable turns and highly entertaining twists, Tinman was one of those books that I simply had to read just one more chapter of until there were no more chapters left to read. Greg, the unlikely hero, is thrust out of the comfort of life as a geotechnical engineer into a world of secrets and danger. A seemingly simple, yet peculiar call from an old friend requesting a meeting starts a chain of events that sends Greg running for his life while trying to figure out why he is being pursued and what exactly is going on.

The interesting backstories of the characters provide not only insight but allow for suspicions to be cast on each of them at various points throughout the book. The story takes you on an adventure of bombs, secrets, double agents, environmental extremists, etc., while keeping you entertained and enthralled at the same time.

While Greg is being chased from Minnesota to the snow-capped Canadian mountains, the reader is swept up in the journey to find out why he is being pursued. You never know what will happen next or who will be revealed to be the antagonist. Each time I thought I knew who was causing Greg's problems, only a couple of pages later to discover that I was completely wrong. The author manages to keep the reader engrossed in the story by making every character seem like they could be responsible for the chaos that the protagonist finds himself in.

Kate Black should be applauded for the story she managed to create from an unfinished manuscript and very few notes about how the original author, Matt Walton who passed away before being able to finish the book, wanted the story to be told.

I could not find one negative point to raise about the book. Not being able to stop reading until the end could not possibly be counted as a negative point. I could not put it down!

For the entertainment value, the gripping plot, and all the wonderful characters I rate this book 4 out of 4.

I would recommend this book to anybody and everybody looking for a good, entertaining story, even if the thriller genre is not their usual choice. The book has all the features of a wonderful reading experience, elusive “bad guys'', an unlikely hero, a love interest, and a good number of suspicious characters wrapped up in a solid plot that keeps you guessing right up to the end.
