Even after hundreds of years, Racism remains unfinished. Mixed Blessings: Is Race Real? is a Dystopian Novel by J.M Muse, unfolding a story of different people with varying social classes and races. Along with all these, religion is so much involved.

Honorable Minister Kublai Khan is a black American and a wealthy religious leader. Whenever he needs anything, he gets in an instant. Khan's mission is to empower the black community and prove it as a superior race. To increase the population of blacks, he made a plan to use Asian women to be impregnated by trained Black men. He is up for a mixed-race prevalence using the fertility of Mocha girls, the mixed-race women. Another central character here is Reverend Tucker Dalton. He, on the other hand, begs to differ from Khan's view. He firmly believes that the white race is the one selected by God to lead humanity. Upon learning Khan's intentions, Dalton decided to stop his opponents' pursuits. Considering themselves as men of God, Minister Kublai Khan and Pastor Dalton have different perspectives about superiority. Power, one must say, is the driving force behind all the supremacy schemes of the religious leaders.

This novel has a well-written narrative and character development. Muse made sure to stick to the theme all through the end of the story. The plot continues to build up, and characters you did not expect would come out again and fit perfectly. I also love how each character is affected by something out of their control- race.

The thing that I did not like in the novel, is the characters' sense of putting race over other religious aspects. To think it thoroughly, they are not being reasonable. It can be seen here that race is being protected and used as a weapon to gain power. Aside from this, I can say that the plot was planned thoroughly and indeed smart.

There are barely any grammatical and typographical errors in the book. I believe that this novel is professionally edited. I am giving this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend Mixed Blessings: Is Race Real? to those interested in political, religious, and social issues. Furthermore, this contains explicit scenes and profanity that is only appropriate for mature readers.
