From the feelings and acts of abandonment, lies, deceit, shame, violated, disconnect, grief, worry, secrets, regret, abuse, neglect, struggles, accusations, anger, pain, humiliation, anxiety and fear to compassion, acceptability, accountability, their truth, nurturing and healing Just Give Me A Soft Place to Land is definitely full of emotions and a journey of challenges to the pursuit of happiness. The story starts with Beth, Caroline and Sarah meet up with each other every Wednesday for a knitting club; however, their meetings turn into friendships and deep revelations of their business endeavors, upbringing and adult life.

Although Just Give Me A Soft Place To Land is a fiction story, Judy Condone bring the ups and downs to what can happen in any person given the nature of one’s own environment. She brings a story to life through emotions and conversation, emphasizing empathy and sympathy on a new level. Beth shows you no matter what you have been through gray skies can turn into brighter days if you strive for it, Caroline gives the example you can’t change a person unless they have the desire to change themselves and Sarah demonstrates you can change at anytime in life and there’s no such thing as too late. This story is amazing and made with care.

Judy Condone could have added a little more humor to the story, given that it had so much tragedy; Like when Caroline’s father in law told a joke on page 57 she should have told a joke. There was no need to introduce the characters of Lexi and Jenny or Cindy. They were added into the story so late that their input didn’t bring any weight and didn’t go deep.

The baseline of this story is one that I have heard before, perhaps watched it on cable television. However, Just Give Me A Soft Place To Land put a twist to those stories. I'm giving this novel a rating of 3 out of 4 stars.

Because of the life learned lessons and the expressions of empathy and sympathy, I would recommend this book for young men and women of the age of 17 and up. This way they can gain a view that they have a long life ahead of them and their decisions and those closes to them have a great impact on it. There will be many obstacles,  choices and outside forces that will turn your life around but it is important to keep your faith and values intact.
