What would be your reaction be if you unexpectedly went from being an everyday citizen to working with the CIA and bodyguards? Will you ever be able to look at the world way you did before? E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a one-of-a-kind, fast-paced thriller that keeps you reading way past midnight.

Tom Turbulo and his lovely bride, Kelly McBride, are looking for an enjoyable, romantic honeymoon located on a Caribbean resort island. It seems pretty ordinary. Nothing remotely dangerous except a coconut falling on your head could happen, right? Wrong. After an innocent shopping trip at a gift shop that goes disastrously wrong, Tom and Kelly start to realize that their honeymoon is going to be far from relaxing and peaceful as they had originally hoped. They soon find themselves tangled in an arcane terrorist plot against the United States of America. Which side will win? What will be the country's future?

For those who don't know, E.M.P stands Electro-Magnetic Pulse, a dangerous weapon that could wipe out all of our internet facilities and send us spiraling back to the dark ages. Although this is just a fiction book, the fact that there may be a possibility this could happen sometime in the future added to the suspense and fear I was feeling during reading the story, which I appreciated. Although there are a lot of characters in the book, Mercer did an excellent job giving each one a different personality. In addition, I loved the humor in the book because it is a little challenging to find funny science fiction novels, at least in my case.

One of my favorite characters was actually one of the terrorists. It was nice to see her side, so it was not just the whole "good guys versus bad guys" thing. It is exceptionally edited since I could find no grammar errors.

As for the negative aspects of the book, I usually love fast-paced books, but I felt as if this book was a little too rushed. Maybe the author could have slowed down a little and explained a few things. Furthermore, there were so many parts of the book spent on the action and risking life and limb trying to stop the terrorists it resulted in a lack of character development as a consequence.

According to the text, I give the rating 3 out of 4 stars. I recommend it to people who love to read about adventure and mystery.

I like the sound of this thriller. Shame about the pace though. But it seems pretty good. Thanks for the review!
