In my opinion, Twisted But True is on a subtle mission to correct prominent misconceptions about policemen. Reading this book got me exposed to certain truths I was oblivious of regarding the everyday activities of a policeman. In this book written by Darren Burch, the author highlights some events that took place during the time he served his country as a police officer—he is retired now. Although his stories contain different elements and lessons, love for service and sacrifice are outstanding.

This book is written in a way that readers would easily perceive that the author was very passionate about his job. From the storylines to the way he wrote about the events, his passion is greatly felt. The book contains over twenty chapters, with each chapter covering the story of an entirely different event. It is inspiring to know that the author did not allow his family problems to interfere with his service. As a matter of fact, he had lots of challenges that could weigh him down, and it made me wonder how he managed to sustain his passion for service till the very end. Owing to this, I almost read it in one sitting, as I was glued to these stories.

My favorite chapter is the one that covers the story of a couple who called 911 to report the case of their missing son. According to Darren, he got to the apartment only to realize that the "missing son" is a forty-two-year-old man living across the street with his girlfriend. I found the story very hilarious and interesting.

Owing to the nature of the book, it did not leave any cliffhanger, and I appreciate this about the book. I realized that books with cliffhangers usually leave readers wishing they picked another book, especially when the follow-up book is not readily available. There is nothing I dislike about the book.

It is very important to inform potential readers that this book contains borderline profanity and erotic scenes which may irritate sensitive readers. I, therefore, do not recommend it to young readers. However, I find them appropriate for the nature of this book.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I could not deduct a star because it is exceptionally edited; I found no errors. I recommend it to lovers of interesting stories. I also recommend it to people who are curious about the activities of policemen; this may provide relevant information.
