Two boys Mathew and Ryan, wake up on an abandoned island with little recollection of their past. The only thing they remember is that they were best friends who were with each other before they vanished and ended up on the island. They have only each other as they try to scavenge for food, water and shelter along with trying to get off the island. Little did they know about the challenges the island was holding for them.

What I admired most while reading the book, Island Games was the moral aspect which the writer Caleb J. Boyer was trying to embark on. Their friendship and the humor with which the two friends faced the challenges was inspiring. The events of the novel were unique and interesting to read. Throughout the story until the end, the writer is trying to teach a valuable lesson about life.

The storyline was good, but I felt that the writer could have written a few events in a more elaborate way to get people time to connect with the situation before moving on to another adventure. As the details help the reader to be in the same imaginary location. Thus the events felt fast-paced rather than exciting. On the other hand, the beginning seemed to drag on, like after they found food and water, nothing particular happened, but still their basic routine was repeated in the chapters.

The novel was professionally edited. I will rate it 2 out of 4 stars. I am not giving it 1 star because the story is interesting and I did enjoy it. I am not giving it 3 or 4 stars because I felt it could have been written much better. I would recommend this book to children and teenagers who like a good adventure on a mysterious island.
