Review of Scorn of Secrets
Scorn of Secrets by B. Truly. The book is about Madison Guillory. She grew up with her father Mister Guillory, her mother Mrs Charlotte Guillory and her older sister Tanya Thibodaux. Mister Guillory used to be a supportive father and very dignified until he began gambling and using alcohol. His new lifestyle became a problem, caused debts to their family and died due to his gambling and alcohol addiction. The family was drowning into debts and Charlotte decided to sell their home. Charlotte fell in love with Regan Jenkins who had two sons, Jackson and his twin brother Justin. Charlotte moved in with her daughters to Regan's house. She became so obsessed with Regan in such a way that she was not seeing anything wrong about taking her daughters to stay with Regan's sons. The sons began to fall in love with Madison. Justin dated Madison. The parents were too busy loving each other and never see that their children are dating. One day Jackson took advantage of Madison, he raped and impregnated her. Madison did not reveal this secret until she gave birth. She did not want to cause any trouble in the house and believed that her mother was too blind by love so she is not going to believe her secret. After some Madison began to realize that she should press the charges against Jackson and everyone was amazed at first but then they believed her except her sister who was supporting Jackson.
The positive aspects about this book- it is encouraging everyone who has darkest secrets to reveal them and be brave enough to face the challenges that might come their way so that they can heal their souls and grow mentally. It is also encouraging widows to never forget about their children and choose their new partners over their own blood and flush. It tells us about the difficulties children face whenever they are changing the location especially if they do not want to go those new locations. It is telling us about the challenges people face whenever they drag themselves to alcohol and gambling and the danger of borrowing money from loan sharks.
The negative aspects- there is nothing negative about this book.
I'm rating this book 3 out of 4 . The author took more than enough time trying to introduce the main character of the book, so the reader started to think that the main character is the father not the daughter, Madison.
I highly recommend this book to all those who were married and lost their partners, to every young girls who are going through hard times because they have lost of their parents and to everyone who is has been harassed emotional and sexually to come forward and report their issues.
