The MISOGI Method by Jody B. Miller is a self-help book. It concentrates on the ways to achieve lasting happiness and success by stepping outside the outermost limits of our comfort zones.

The book starts with the meaning and the origin of Misogi. The concept of modern-day Misogi is also introduced. The author shares what amazing things can happen in life if the Misogi method is followed. She has also briefed about her research, development and implementation of the Misogi method. The importance of constructive positive feedback from a strong supportive network while undergoing Misogi is emphasized. The author explains how knowingly or unknowingly we undergo Misogis in our daily life. Many personality tests are also given. The importance of work-life balance is highlighted and the graph is shared explaining the same. The author has talked about Misogi remorse and how to overcome it. At the end of each chapter, some space is left for the reader to think and reflect on whatever they read in the lesson. Furthermore, takeaway points are listed in case the reader has missed any keynotes. The book ends with the interviews of a few great personalities and the TEDx Talk transcript of the author.

On the positive aspect, I appreciate the efforts of the author to research and scientifically stress the importance of post chapter exercises and their benefits in our daily lives. This makes the reader sincerely think and complete the exercise. I loved when the author compared the slow-motion feature in our mobiles with living life in the present. She has also mentioned its importance in finding our Misogi. 'Moving outside your comfort zone can be uncomfortable. Moving beyond uncomfortable can be transformational' - I liked this line by the author.

What I loved most about the book was its interview section. The interaction of the author with those great achievers was so interesting. There were many messages to be taken home in that part. Also, in the middle of the book, the author makes her readers meditate on the technic she learned in Koh Samui, Thailand. By practising this, I felt like my stress is coming out. I was relaxed and calm. Pictures, photos and diagrams in between made the book even more captivating and beautiful.

There were some factual errors in the book which can't be ignored. Like, the author called Lord Ganesha a Buddhist deity, though he is a Hindu deity. Moreover, a mistake is repeated multiple times on the same page. Apart from these, there were some grammatical errors as well. The book surely needs another round of thorough editing.

Overall, I loved the conversational language and pictorial demonstration of the book. There were many keynotes helpful in many aspects of life. Due to the above-mentioned reasons and multiple grammatical errors, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars.

I highly recommend this book to readers who want to go beyond their limits and discover their new selves. It'll surely bring positive change in their lives. I also recommend this book to youngsters as the personality tests and TEDx links provided can help them know their true selves better and thus they can sort the best career options for them.
