Review of Fast Starting a Career of Consequence: Workbook
Excellent read! Fast Starting a Career of Consequences by Fred Sievert was one of the best works I have read about succeeding in the workplace while utilizing your spiritual beliefs and acting according to God’s word!; finding your God-given gifts and working with them in order to find a fulfilling career and becoming successful. As a retiree, the compilation of ideas and strategies to share my faith with others actually made me long to be working in a corporate environment again! I always thought sharing my beliefs in the workplace meant I had to preach the gospel and quote scripture, but this workbook makes it clear that it is not so. Fred Sievert has provided a guide to behaviors that allow the reader to practice spiritual living while becoming an example of how humankind should behave toward coworkers and supervisors in order to be of spiritual influence while moving up to the level desired.
The workbook can stand-alone, easily understood, regardless if the book it is based on has been read, though I would highly recommend reading it based on the writing of this guide.
Not only does the book provide a guideline for behavior in a work environment, but it can also easily be applied to life itself! Many of the suggestions can be practiced in daily dealings with family and friends to build more fulfilling relationships while practicing your faith and spiritual goals. The worksheets provide the reader a guideline for being successful on the job and can easily be adjusted to encourage positive relationships.
Unfortunately there are just a few grammatical errors. Without them I would rate the workbook as a 5 out of 4 as it is that motivating a read. On page vii there is an oops in capitalization in the web address. In the title the word God is not capitalized and all other significant words are throughout the writing. On page 34, bullet 3 there is a period between the word “in”and prayer, thus reading “Lift them up in. prayer”. On page 36, the golden rule uses “onto” instead of “unto” both times. And lastly, on page 73 paragraph 3 there is a dangling parenthesis. It reads “I want to manage a P&L”, ” with no opening quotation mark. Due to these very small errors I would rate this work as a 3 out of 4, although I really wanted to rate it higher.
Again, this is an excellent workbook for all areas of life and if the reader behaves in the manner described, a life of consequence is a sure thing. I thoroughly enjoyed reading through it and look forward to practicing these actions to make my daily life more fulfilling.
Thank you Fred Siever for this very enlightening workbook.
