Review of Adrift
William ran to the only other available small boat on the ship because his captain said he should. He was not running because there were pirates aboard. He made this sprint because the ship was sinking due to a fire. He didn't know which way the water would carry him and his small group of crewmates. He thus prayed to the gods of his ancestors to keep him safe. You can't blame him for worrying. If you were in his shoes, you would too. After the sea quieted down, he saw that it had dumped their boat on a small island. Ironically, this was the island on which his ancestors lived and died. Was this a joke or a message? He didn't know. But he must not lose hope since his team looks to him for a steady supply of that and guidance. Will he ever be able to see his Myra again? What about his friends? Will he get one more chance to set his eyes on them? These questions flow in his mind. But, he would know the fate that the deities had woven for him soon.
One thing that I like so much about this book is the beautiful storyline. This is not a story that you hear every day. It does not follow any cliché plot that has been recited by authors a thousand times. Its story is unique and pure. The feelings of each character were shown like art on paper. The author created a masterpiece, and I am glad that he decided to share it with the galaxy.
Furthermore, there is a lot of conflict in the story. And from what I learned, with that comes suspense. But this is not always true. There will be no suspense if the end of the conflict is obvious. If the storyline was weak, then the suspense that readers crave would be non-existent. This is not the case for Adrift. The suspense was very much present because Charlie Sheldon made this book unpredictable. This is something that I never thought would happen. He showed me more than what I expected those outcomes to be. This suspense that I came about as a result of my failure to accurately predict things is what I liked the most in the book.
Another thing that I would like to mention is the flawless editing. Charlie Sheldon edited Adrift so well. He edited it exceptionally well. I noticed that this is the same for the few books that I have read by this author and his team. I want to see more books with this feature.
Adrift is a golden book. And like gold, I did not dislike it. Everything looked beautiful and perfect to me. It is not a matter of surprise that I liked everything in it and gave it great accolades. To prove that this is the case, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars
The plot focused on the sea. But that does not mean that only prospective sailors must read this book. Charlie Sheldon presented a book that is appropriate for anyone seeking adventure and a beautiful story. If you are one such person, why don't you read this book?
