The physical capabilities of athletes are currently being taken to new and greater heights. Athletes are faster and stronger than ever. The intensity of matches is only increasing. Yet, Italy won the men’s European Championships last year with a central defensive pairing with a combined age of 70. How? Experience. Their shared experience meant that they could read a game and be in the right position, making up for what their bodies lacked.

Christie Lindor has years of experience in consulting and pours it out in her book, The MECE Muse. In her words in the book, ‘One of the initial steps toward being a great consultant is to first understand the definition of the role, history of the profession, and to have an impartial mental map of what excellence looks like in consulting.’ She uses her book to help aspiring consultants by giving them advice on how best to approach the career, how to condition themselves to perform to the best of their ability, and sharing her personal experiences that she feels could be beneficial for aspiring consultants to know.

I like the structure of the book. Christie Lindor broke her thoughts down into smaller manageable chunks with a heading into each section. This made it easy to grasp the main objective of the content and follow her train of thought easily. I enjoyed how her lessons were easy to understand and were simple. For example, she had a section where her main objective was to show the reader the importance of checking in on how people are experiencing things and how remembering the people’s names can have a positive effect.

Christie Lindor used a variety of models, diagrams, and illustrations effectively throughout the book. They added visual context to her words and allowed her explanations to be concise and efficient. The MECE Muse contains a lot of great ideas and concepts that could be useful to anyone in the field of consultancy.

The MECE Muse was written well and Christie Lindor did a good job putting her thoughts into words. I did not find any negative aspects in the book.

I give The MECE Muse a rating of 4 out of 4 stars because it was worth reading, informative, and exceptionally edited. The book is easy to read to the end and is a great guide to having a successful career as a consultant.

I would recommend this book to all students who aspire to be consultants and those who have just recently started their careers.
