Review of The MECE Muse
The MECE Muse by Christie Lindor is a non-fiction guidebook that provides advice and tips to consultants. The book highlights some of the basic principles that every consultant must possess. The author shares her journey as a consultant while also providing valuable lessons she has acquired over the years. She shares what the job requires and tactics one can use to exceed in their work.
The book is divided into three sections and twenty-one different chapters. The sections are; The Mindset of Great Consultants, Performance, and Conditioning of Great Consultants, Reflections of a Consulting Career. In every chapter, the author has interviewed different consultants about their work. They share insights on the career itself. Some of these are; what drives them to be better in their line of work, the challenges they face, and the wins they have experienced.
The author has provided tips on balancing demanding work with family time. I loved that the author shared other experiences from different people. The various interviews also make the book intriguing as each person is unique from the other. I appreciated the work ethics and principles that the author shares throughout the book. I believe that these tips can be used by everyone in their line of work. Some ethics emphasized in the book are honesty, respect, authenticity, and integrity while performing one's duties.
The book provides for challenges that consultants have undergone in their careers. These have been highlighted from the various interviews that the author has done with different consultants. The author plays the role of a teacher who guides new consultants who may not be accustomed to the consulting industry. There is nothing that I did not like about the book. I enjoyed every aspect of the book.
I rate this book a four out of four stars. The book has been well-edited. I only encountered a few run-on sentences. It is an easy read as the author has used simple language that readers can easily comprehend. The author has soundly provided information that every consultant can gain from.
I recommend this book to people who are embarking on the consulting industry. The book provides so much information that will play a role in shaping a consultant’s career life and help to find the balance that one needs. The book is suitable for a person looking for some advice and tips on work-related issues as the book has covered a range of topics, from teamwork to respect and etiquette at the office.
