The book Mixed Blessings by J.M. Muse is a real time classic. It depicted a time in history where people were judged based on the color of their skin. Minister Kublai Khan served as the Martin Luther of his time, he brought out a plan to put an end to racism by creating a category of racial differences that would trump the idea of white or black. The story ensued from that line, the challenges he faced from both races especially the white folks who considered themselves a superior race.

The book has a lot of positive aspects. The first one that intrigued me was the creativity behind the book. The entire book depicted a work of creativity and the imagination. The author was able to take a classic idea and theme like racism and write about it in a contemporary setting. I admire the concept behind that.

Another thing I found fascinating about the book was how the author constructed each character in the book. Although the book contains a lot of characters and the author employed an omniscient view of narration, he created a platform from which his readers can interact with the characters and relate to their different personalities. It was easy to feel the pain that Jeremy felt after losing his friend, Sidney. The author also created characters from different races in order to emphasize the central theme of the book.

Generally, I love the structure of the book. The author put in a lot of work and detail into creating the book. Even though all the aspects of the book were carefully planned and organized, I love how the chapters were organized. The chapters are well connected. They helped organize the story and created a sense of suspense in the reader's mind as he tries to navigate the different progressions of the storyline. I also love how concise and brief the chapters are. At first, when I saw that the book has forty-five chapters, I felt it was going to be a long and boring read. But the brevity of the chapters made it a fun read for me.

There was absolutely nothing that I disliked about the book.

Although I found very few errors in the book, it still did not affect my reading. I would rate the book four out of four stars

It is a very good book. It has an interesting storyline and plot structure. I enjoyed reading the book. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading speculative fiction, especially racial injustice.
