This is the review for the book: The Elf Accord by Jordan David. It is book 4 in The Magi Charter series. There are a total of 9 books so far. This book is a prequel and sets the scene for the rest of the series. It uncovers the legends of Santa Claus and his great mission to the world. All the series narrate epic adventures tracing the origin of the famed home of Santa, The North Pole, and the origin of Santa's helpers, The Elves.

The book starts with the story of a man called Oren and his faithful mastiff, Sothis. They live in Austria. He is a big giant of a man and loves traveling on an adventure. We also encounter the main protagonist of this book, Santa Leopold. He too had humble beginnings but was handed the special commitment of being a Santa by the Santas of old. However, there is restlessness in his camp. The people want to move to a better place much to Leopold's disappointment and misgivings. They are guided through this epic venture by the mysterious lady, Serapha. Meanwhile all over the world summons are being sent out to chosen people, to gather at a particular place for a special purpose. The Knight's Templar also join Leopold in his venture. They reach a point where their journey seems to have come to an end which is when the story takes a huge twist. The best of their adventure continues until it all comes to a thrilling end. What seemed impossible before seems possible again.

I remember seeing this book on my review list for the longest time and was somehow not inspired to pick it up. However, when I read in the synopsis that it was a prequel to the Santa Claus legend, I felt drawn to it immediately. I must say this book kept me hooked from page 1. The setting and the characters are so magical and charming that you can't stop reading about them. There are layers of many stories wrapped up in the main story and they all blend well together

Santa Leopold was admirable as a devoted and caring leader however he relied a lot on others to lead him at crucial times. The lady Serapha is covered in mystery and intrigue. The Knights Templar shone for their valor, courage, and bravery. The best part of the book was the adventure with the polar bears. Their way of living depicted an almost human-like society with hierarchies and clans. My hero in this book is Oren and his mastiff. They appear out of nowhere and rescue those in trouble. Nothing, not even a major accident, seems to stop him from exploring the world!

This book was very picturesque with vivid details and flawless story-telling. The world-building was excellent and the characters were well fleshed out. It was a story that was well crafted with a lot of care. The details of the new kingdom and the lair of the polar bears were extraordinary. This is a book of origins: the origin of the flying reindeer, the importance of the famed Christmas tree, the presents delivered to the children, and many more.

However, there is a huge cast of characters. I had to maintain notes to keep track. Of course, the glossary at the end helps. There were a few spelling errors but they didn't necessarily interfere with my reading. There were times in the story when I felt the magic could have been used to avoid the major disasters that occurred but then this is just my thought.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars . It will surely be a huge hit with middle-grade readers. There is adventure, magical- realism, fantasy, and travel that take place. I would heartily recommend this book to readers of all ages. It will surely rekindle your beliefs in Santa Claus and transport you back to the wonderful days of childhood!
