[Following is a volunteer review of "Rise of the Savior" by Antoine Bonner.]
If you were given a dying offer that helps you save the one you loved no matter the cost, would you accept? This was the case with Jamie Conner. Lucas, his son is all that Jamie has in his life and when he's diagnosed with having a brain tumor, he's left with no other alternative. A deity that claims to have been with Jamie right from birth appears when he's distraught and cries for help in the hospital's Chapel. This offer, taking the lives of children and pre-teens to fill the hourglass of his son's life is all he has to do to ensure his son's prosperity.
The standalone story, Rise of the Saviour by Antoine Bonner, is of two sisters, Amanda and Saira, who both reawakens their deities by accepting their help on the brink of death. Saira, being six years and an acolyte is a perfect catch for Jamie to help his dying son. Amanda, the acolyte of truth, has to rise as a Saviour and protect her sister from Jamie, the acolyte of death. Will she be able to save her younger sister, Saira, and protect the world from evil deities?
I would say Rise of the Saviour deserved my 4 out of 4 rating, if not more. I found the book easy to understand overall and thoroughly enjoyed the book. The professional edits given to the book are great, I found no single error and the plot was amazing!
I did not detest any aspect of the book. The book met my expectations, if not more. I was greeted with some unfamiliar words but that didn't deteriorate my interest, it piqued it even more. I got to learn new words and their meaning. I found many intense and motivational thoughts. One of which was, "Just because you lose one fight doesn't mean you have to give up" on page 35. On the whole, Rise of the Saviour is a really good story with a unique concept and I look forward to reading the sequel of the book 'Rise of the Hearts'.
I'll recommend this book to fantasy, action, and thriller lovers. Anime lovers will also find this book appealing as it contains a plot that could be used as an anime-type of story. The book is sure to not bore you, in any bit. However, I would not endorse this book to readers who cannot tolerate the idea of the existence of many gods and who are not pleased with gory sights.
