[Following is a volunteer review of "Terms of Service" by Craig W. Stanfill.]
Terms of Service is an amazing science fiction book by Craig W. Stanfill. Kim is the protagonist in this book. She works at an Artificial Intelligence Company as an AI trainer. Her job mainly involves training some artificial beings that have no capacity to think or decide for themselves. She enjoys her work and hopes to rise through the ranks. In the beginning, everything seems to be going well for her. However, as days go by, things change for the worst. One fateful day, she finds herself in the midst of the forces that control the entire society. She realizes that the main function of the company is to manipulate and control people’s lives. She is shocked to realize that everything in her life from what she eats to who she loves is being controlled. There is no privacy in her life. Everything in the entire society seems to be compromised. No one has the freedom to make decisions, express themselves or think independently. Artificial Intelligence is in control of every aspect of people’s lives.
I like how the author starts by giving the reader descriptive words at the beginning of this book. This made it easy for me to go through the entire book without encountering any form of confusion. The effort made by the author to include humor in this book is also remarkable. The characters in this book were also well-developed.
The only thing I disliked in this book is that the beginning was a bit slow. The protagonist’s life was a bit boring at this point. I actually had the impression that the entire book is this slow. However, the pace of the book fastens as the story unfolds. I did not find any other negative things about this book.
I give Terms of Service 4 out of 4 stars. I did not find any good reason to give it a lower rating than this one. This book deserves 4 out of 4 stars because it was exceptionally well-edited. I did not find any major errors while reading this book. Additionally, I found this book interesting and amazing in every way. This book is a real page-turner.
I would like to recommend this book to people who like fictional books. Those interested in futuristic books will also find it very interesting. However, I would not recommend it to kids since it contains adult content in some chapters.
