Review of Did you know

[Following is a volunteer review of "Did you know" by Ashok Bhaskaran.]
Children love stories, and adults often fabricate stories to thrill them. However, it would do much good to tell them true historical tales. Did you Know? by Ashok Bhaskaran provides interesting historical tales for young ones.
The book opens with an expressive illustration of Jason, who promptly provided a historical fact about the usage of electronic tablets. He points out that tablets have been in use for a long time. He explained how ancient civilizations made use of mud tablets to tally goods in farms and shops and how messages written in mud tablets are sent through messengers to recipients. Subsequent pages provide 8 interesting historical facts for readers.
I enjoyed reading this little book of 23 pages. Its layout is organized and appealing. Beautiful and expressive illustrations can be found throughout the book. I particularly found the illustration of Alexander Graham Bell on page 11 amusing. It is colorful and would appeal to kids.
My favorite aspect of this book is the vital information provided in the narrative. I particularly love the information on page 21 about water pollution and its effect on fish. This is a current threat that affects water bodies in many parts of the world. Educating children on the dangers of water pollution can help us achieve a better environment in centuries to come.
I have no dislikes about this book. It was designed to effectively appeal to kids. I also love how each historical fact was introduced with "Did you know?" which was always written in bright and contrasting colors. This feature can help young ones focus on the information being provided.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It is professionally edited. I found two minor errors in the text. Kids between the ages of 3 to 7 years will find this book intriguing.
