This story is about Galen who makes his escape from the Land of Princes to the safe haven of Magnum Caelum in Voulhire. Here he finds himself in a new world with a home and a blacksmith business that his uncle established many years ago. At the same time, Lord Eldus moves to the fishing town of Hillport to rebuild this quite town that was recently under the care of Lord Orlin and shortly afterwards Lord Meldorath. As Lord Eldus attempts to revive this still shaken community, the ghosts of Orlin and Meldorath is ever present. As Lord Eldus tries to understand exactly what happened, the mystery deepens and evolves as the Riva Rohavi comes into the picture.

We are Voulhire is a story that brings in magical elements of mages and alternative universes. It starts of at a high tempo and the action remains throughout the story. Matthew Tysz keeps the reader wrapped up in the various story lines that unfolds simultaneously, and they each align towards a common point – Galen is meant for bigger things and will most likely be the main gate keeper against Meldorath and his band of evil doers.

There is nothing to dislike in this story. The pace of the story, the storyline itself and the characters all come together to describe people in a faraway country filled with challenges such as poverty, poor education systems, elitists, knights, and magicians. To some extent, it might even describe current events in the world when the leader of the Mianoran knights start to plot and scheme.

The editing is perfect, and I must commend the author on this fact. Given that this story is part of a world that has magic and acknowledges the existence of alternate dimensions, new and strange words are plentiful but used in the correct context to ensure understanding by the reader. Further assistance comes in the form a reference guide at the back of the book. I rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars.

This book is for adults and young adults alike, but I would not recommend it for younger readers as it contains offensive language. The language is used in context of a world torn between war, magic, and different economic classes of people so it adds to the story rather than to specifically offend one. I enjoyed every page of this book and will certainly read the coming books in this amazing series.
